24 hours sort of

So, our family started a macrobiotic diet yesterday. Sort of. Last night I cleaned out the cupboards and refrigerator. I decided I couldn't really just throw away all of our cheese and the 6 dozen eggs I bought last week. Last night we had some cheese sandwiches.
A major headache started behind my right eye last night at about 8. 8 o'clock was about 12 hours after I ate my last piece of chocolate/ refined sugar/ flour. The headache got worse over night. It throbbed ached and moved down to my shoulders. My head still hurts and feels heavy this morning. My kids voices seem very loud today. I am happy to just let them watch movies.
In case you decide to go on a macrobiotics diet after eating at least 80% sugar previously, just note that these things I am experiencing are called sugar withdrawals. They are totally normal when detoxing from sugar.
I can expect to feel like this for a few days up to a few weeks. Its worth it. Signing out- I will let you know when the withdrawals are over.

Macrobiotics

Any body out there in the blogosphere ever consider macrobiotics? It has to do with Yin (high energy-think fire) and Yang (low energy-think rock).
A while back, my sister in law emailed me, to see if I had any good vegetarian recipes. I didn't. But, I knew a lady that was vegan, so I asked her. She gave me a book on Macrobiotics. I decided to read it, to see if it was worth passing along. I also wondered what macrobiotics had to do with vegetarians.
This is how I would describe macrobiotics the way I can think of it in my head is through magnetics. Some things have strong polarities. Others don't. As long as you stay close to the center between the 2 polarities, you should be fine.
So, what are food that aren't centered? { Drugs, Alcohol, Sugar, Spices, creamy sweet liquids, Tropical fruits, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant} these are all ying or high energy foods. Ok yang- or low energy foods {All animal food-except fish, salty dairy, eggs}. Macrobiotics say that meats may be necessary in cold or famine. The same with tropical fruits and night shade vegetables being(potatoes-peppers-tomatoes-eggplants) better for you if you live closer to the equator. The book I read talked about eating fruits in their season. It talks about no caffiene- so coffee is out.
Does this diet remind any one of anything? My whole married life I have looked for a workable diet that mimics the word of wisdom. The word of wisdom is something that I believe. You can read it here http://lds.org/study/topics/word-of-wisdom?lang=eng I have never found anything closer than this macrobiotic diet.
So what is centered? Fruit Juice, Fruit, Sea vegetables, Vegetables, Beans, Grains, and fish.

The book I read also says that because men and women are different, women usually eat more vegetables and sweet things, and the men usually eat more of the grains and fish. This is good to know, because the male to female ratio in this house is 5:2.
So, if your intrigued, I would suggest reading a book about Macrobiotics. I read the Hip Chick's guide to Macrobiotics, written by Jessica Porter. She is a hoot, but just so you know, she borders on pg-13. It made for an interesting read, but I can't in good conscience recommend it to my friends.

By the way, in case you are wondering white flour, sugar, microwaves, dairy of any kind, birth control pills, recreational drugs, gmo's, chemicals, preservatives, and additives are all frowned on.

So day 1 and 1/2 on macrobiotics- sort of. I did good except for the sugar part. I woke up this morning and finished off the Christmas candy. Then I warmed up some green beens and wheat (on the stove). Now I am practicing chewing each bite well, and giving thanks for what I have been blessed with.

I am a Triathloner

Today I am 28 weeks pregnant. Today I finished my first sprint triathlon. I Ran a 5K-45 minutes, biked 12 miles-45 minutes and swam 400 yards-10 minutes. It took me 1 hour and 40 minutes. I love to set goals and accomplish them!

I know this goal is small compared to my "no empty chairs" goal, but it is a goal none the less.
Goals are great because you can break them up in to small steps, to come up with a big out come.
Any way that is a different topic altogether. The important thing for today is I did it I did it I did it. I am a triathlon-er!
Woot Woot!

Pictures will follow later.

Just kidding- I actually finished the divine nature value today- also.
6 left!

So, what is this, like Month 6?

Yep, month 6. I have been keeping up on my "personal progress", and that has been fun. I got an award at church on Sunday, a white ribbon. Only 7 more values to go. Since the month of January I have been training for a Triathlon. That has been terrific. I will be putting the triathlon on in the Y, so if your close, ask me about it. It is in March. I will be having a baby in June- A girl, we think.
In July I drive home for family reunions and a class reunion. I had to give up girls camp in July- logistics of a new born at camp just didn't compute.
I know this has been a long absence, but I really am continuing my own make over experience, its just on the down low. I will let you know how I turn out :)
over and out
